SEMEGA enters the air transport industry
Iran Cultural Heritage and Tourism Investment Group (SEMEGA), continuing its development programmes and aiming to complete the tourism services value chain, has placed entry into the air transport industry on its agenda.
According to SEMEGA's public relations unit, in order to complete the value chain in the tourism industry and create a transport network at national and international levels, the group has placed the establishment of an airline on its agenda. This strategic step for developing travel infrastructure has been disclosed to shareholders through the CODAL system in line with information transparency requirements.
The tourism industry today needs complementary infrastructure and effective links between the different links of the travel services chain more than ever. Therefore, SEMEGA, drawing on its experience in tourism, has defined the development of air transport activities as one of its strategic growth axes.
Esfandiar Heydaripour, CEO of SEMEGA Holding, noted the importance of this move: 'One of SEMEGA's main approaches in recent years has been to develop the tourism value chain and create synergy among the various businesses in this industry. Entry into air transport is also within this framework and can play an important role in completing travel services and upgrading the country's tourism capacity.'
He added: 'SEMEGA has always sought to invest with a long-term, development-oriented perspective in sectors that, in addition to creating economic added value, also help develop the macro-infrastructure of this industry.'
The CEO of SEMEGA emphasised the legal process of this project: 'In accordance with the initial approval for the establishment of an airline, SEMEGA Holding is obliged to follow all stages of obtaining legal permits and national aviation standards based on the instructions of the relevant authorities and in full compliance with the requirements of the Securities and Exchange Organisation. Naturally, news related to the receipt of operational permits and any significant progress in this project will be announced to shareholders and stakeholders exclusively through official information channels.'
It is worth noting that SEMEGA has become one of the influential players in this industry over the past years through its active presence in hospitality, accommodation centres and tourism projects. The plan to enter the air transport industry is also being pursued in continuation of the holding's development activities and with the aim of providing more comprehensive services in the country's tourism ecosystem. This move can pave the way for the formation of new capacities for business development, increasing synergy among subsidiary companies and strengthening SEMEGA's position in the country's tourism industry.
