Iran Cultural Heritage and Tourism Investment Group (Public JSC) — SEMEGA — is the executive arm of the Tourism Financial Group and, holding the majority stake in its subsidiaries, acts as the group's largest holding company.
SEMEGA was founded in 2009 with initial capital of IRR 200 billion to develop the tourism industry and invest in Iran's cultural and historic assets, beginning its work as the first Iranian specialised holding to join the World Tourism Organization. It operates today with registered capital of IRR 15,000 billion on the Iran Farabourse under the symbol "SEMEGA".
SEMEGA's core mission is to elevate Iran's cultural standing and create sustainable value for shareholders through investing in, building and operating a diverse portfolio of tourism projects. By expanding the quantity and quality of tourism services, drawing on specialist talent and entering international arenas, the company works to present Iran's cultural and historic attractions and pursues sustainable tourism development as its strategic objective.
To date SEMEGA has operated across 12 specialist chains: identifying and appraising investment opportunities, structuring partnerships, attracting domestic and foreign investors, restoring historic buildings, branding, and operating and managing projects. These cover hotels, service and leisure complexes, accommodation, catering and tourism facilities, as well as new financial and tourism start-ups.
